Funeral for Henry “H.L.” Burcham, 83, of Somerville (Union Hill) was Thursday, July 2, at 11 a.m. at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City with Eldridge Criscoe and Terry Hudson officiating and Arab Heritage Funeral Home Chapel directing.
Burial was in Ryan Cemetery
Mr. Burcham died Tuesday, June 30, 2009, at his residence. He was born Nov. 8, 1925, and lived in the Union Hill Community with his wife, the former Sara Ann Briscoe, for the past 40 years. He was a member and deacon of Ryan Baptist Church. He was a former basketball coach at Ryan School, Mount Hope School and Fairview School. He was a retired counselor for the Alabama State Employment Service.
He is survived by his wife, Sara A. Burcham; a son, Kenlon Herbie Burcham of Hanceville; a daughter, Somla Wedonna Burcham of Somerville; a grandson, John Wade Tomlinson of Birming-ham; a brother, Thomas Burcham of Mount Hope; two sisters, Mary Davison of Mobile and Earline Palmer of Tennessee; and a host of nieces, nephews, church family, friends and loved ones.
Pallbearers were Britton Bowling, Clay Crawford, Tim Grace, Carl Lawrence, Cameron Mahan and John Wade Tomlinson.
Honorary pallbearers were Guy Bowling, Chuck Briscoe, Stan Briscoe, Josh Burcham, Kelley Burcham, Roger Burcham, George Crawford and Terry Ryan.
