Funeral for Arthur Adley Mason, 82, of Falkville was Friday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Terry Nappier and Walter Blackman officiating.
Burial was in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Mason died Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at his residence. He was born January 14, 1927, in Morgan County to Oscar Mason and Margaret Katherine Reeves Mason. He was a member of East Highland Baptist Church for more than 20 years, owned and operated A.A. Mason Insurance Co. in Hartselle for more than 40 years, was a Mason for more than 40 years and a Christian for more than 65 years. A devoted husband, father and grandfather, he was extremely generous and helped and encouraged people. He loved his family and was always ready for a game of Dominos or Canasta. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Nadine Mason; an infant daughter, Susan Delores Mason; five brothers, Floyd Mason, Gilbert Mason, Olen Mason, Euless Mason and Luther Mason; and two sisters, Lola Mason Farrow and Lottie Mason Rothfuss.
He is survived by a son, Rodney Steven Mason and wife Sherry of Decatur; a daughter, Elaine Mason Nappier and husband Terry of Falkville; a brother, Hollis Mason and wife Lela of Cullman; a sister, Lucille Sherrill of Decatur; four grandchildren, Sylaina Hinkle and husband Frankie of Falkville, Tony Nappier of Hartselle, Amanda Mason of Houston, Tex. and David Mason of Miami, Fla.; eight great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Grandsons and nephews were pallbearers.
