Heart surgery doesn’t slow mayor

Hartselle Mayor Dwight Tankersley arrived at work at 9:30 a.m. Monday, later than his normal schedule. That can be forgiven though, considering the weekend.
Tankersley underwent heart surgery during the weekend. He went in for stress test at Hartselle Medical Center on Friday and doctors advised him not to leave the facility. His wife, Jenny, was called and the couple drove immediately to Huntsville Hospital, where doctors found 65 percent blockage in his heart.
He underwent surgery Friday night. Two stents were put in his heart and he was released Saturday.
Tankersley is in his second term of office. He said he’s feeling good and plans to be back on a normal schedule this week.
