Funeral for Talmadge Wilson Ryan, 90, of Decatur was Monday, July 27, at 3 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Mark Johnson and Greg Standridge officiating.
Burial with military honors was in New Friendship Cemetery.
Mr. Ryan died Saturday, July 25, 2009, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born June 15, 1919, in Morgan County to Wilson Ryan and Mary Lou Johnson Ryan. He was a member of New Friendship Baptist Church, loved fishing and hunting, was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving as a pharmacist assistant first class. He retired from GTE as a tool and die maker, was a former Worshipful Master of the Somerville Masonic Lodge, past commander of the American Legion and a member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilda Muzzey Ryan; a son, Anthony Ryan; and two brothers, Truman Ryan and Leo T. Ryan.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Ryan of Decatur and Steve Ryan of Tuscumbia; a brother, Huie Ryan of Cullman; five sisters, Alice Keyes and Catherine Johnson, both of Huntsville, Jessie Eddy of Gardendale, Faye Williams of Somerville and Jonell Taylor of Crawfordville, Ga.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Kevin Cagle, Scott Garnett, Larry Ryan, Alan Williams, William Clough Jr. and A.J. Williams.
