Former DNES teacher indicted

A former Danville-Neel Elementary teacher was indicted this week on charges she sex crimes against a child between ages 12-16.
Jessica Heather Defoor, 35, was indicted last week by a Morgan County grand jury.
She is charged with enticing a child under age 16 with the intent to propose a sexual act and committing second degree sexual abuse with a child less than 16.
Defoor, of Decatur, was arrested by the Decatur Police Department earlier this week and taken to the Morgan County Jail. Defoor was a second grade teacher at Danville-Neel Elementary School but has been on administrative leave for some time.
If convicted, Defoor faces up to 10 years on the enticement charge and up to a year for the sexual abuse charge.
According to the State Attorney General’s office, the alleged crime was discovered when the victim told a teacher about the incident and school officials reported the matter to authorities.
