A graveside service for J.T. McCaghren, 86, of Hartselle was Saturday, August 8, at 11 a.m. at Johnson Chapel Cemetery with J.T. Copeland officiating and Roselawn Funeral Home directing.
Mr. McCaghren died Thursday, August 6, 2009, at his residence. He was born May 21, 1923, in Morgan County to P.L. and Vider McCaghren. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a member of Enon Baptist Church and a Mason. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Selma McCaghren; two sons, James Tarvon McCaghren and Don Layton; a daughter, Pat Davis; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were grandsons.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley or the Community Clinic.
