Funeral for Marie Tolbert, 92, of Vinemont was Tuesday, August 11, at 2 p.m. at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Cullman.
Burial was in Fellowship Cemetery at Springhill with the Revs. Vernon Wilis and Leron West officiating.
Mrs. Tolbert died Saturday, August 8, 2009, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born February 22, 1917, in Cullman County to William “Bill” and Minnie Godsbey Cagel. She was a member of Liberty Methodist Church, an active member of the Bethel Community Center and received many first place awards for quilts at the Cullman County Fair. She served as chairman for the Election Polls at West Point for many years. One of her many talents was hospitality, as she enjoyed cooking for large groups of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnie Hubert Tolbert; two sisters, Velma Cagel Ellenburg and Pauline Cagle Cupp; four brothers, Daniel Cagle, Cordie Cagle, Otis Cagle and B.C. “Boots” Cagle; and a grandson, Gary Donald Tolbert.
She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie Burks and husband Frank of Hartselle and Betty Tolbert Lollar of Meridian, Miss.; a son, Hubert D. Tolbert and wife Christeen of Cullman; five grandchildren, Wanna Fay Reeder of Panama City Beach, Fla., Rickey Bowden of Fairchance, PA, Karen Bowden Shea of Penscola, Fla., Steven Bowden of Meridian, Miss. and Paul Lollar of Tallassee; three great-grandchildren, Robert Daniel Dobbs of Hartselle, Shelby LeAnne Bowden of Meridian, Miss. and Jessica Lollar of Tallassee.
