Spears, Gilbert wed
Sherry Nichole Spears of Hartselle and Joshua Frank Gilbert of Decatur were married July 11, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Flint Church of Christ in Decatur with Chris Pressnell officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Jerry and Iris Spears of Hartselle. The groom is the son of Earl and Angie Gilbert of Decatur.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She chose a formal gown of ivory re-embroidered Alencon lace over slipper satin. The strapless gown was fashioned with a delicate sprinkling of crystal sequins over the vintage bridal lace. The tiered skirt fell from a natural waistline. A satin belt with a candy box bow graced the waistline. The fullness of the delicate skirt swept to a chapel train. Her veil was sheer ivory with crystals rimming the edge.
She carried a bouquet of hot pink roses interspersed with light pink roses.
Margaret Badger of Hartselle, sister of the bride, served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Hollie McCravey of Decatur; Elisha Montgomery of Decatur; sisters of the groom, Stephanie Montgomery, Lori Holder and Mary Reese, all of Decatur; Heather Garrison of Trinity; Lindsey Reed of Hillsboro; and junior bridesmaid Brylee Holder of Hartselle, neice of the groom. They wore fushia pink dresses and carried a single rose.
Flower girls were Kara Spears of Massey, the bride’s niece, and Macie Holder of Hartselle, the groom’s niece. The ring bearer was the groom’s nephew, Hunter Montgomery of Hartselle.
Best man was the father of the grom, Earl Gilbert of Decatur.
Groomsmen were Jeremy Seal, Joey Underwood and Tim James, all of Decatur; Adam Tucker of Harvest; and Tad Montgomery, Kevin Holder and Marty Reese, all of Hartselle. Junior groomsman was Coty Spears of Massey, the bride’s nephew.
Ushers were Rick Badger of Hartselle and the bride’s brother, Alvin Spears of Massey.
Music was provided by Ricky Moebes. Beverly Flakes and Deb Springer served as wedding directors. The bride’s book was attended by Diana Kritinar. The program attendants were Livie Littrell and Maggie Guyse, both of Hartselle.
A reception was held at the church following the ceremony. Assisting with the reception were Dianne Spears, Nina Childers, Beth Moore, Kristie Royer, Christy Stone, Amy Littrell, Paige Gilbert and Denise Kelly.
After a honeymoon trip to Cancun, Mexico, the couple will reside in Hartselle.
