Man charged with filing false report

A Hartselle man who accused a black man of stealing his vehicle is charged with filing a false report in connection to the incident.
Jesse Allen Masters, 42, of 125 Gum Springs Cut Off Road, Hartselle, is charged with false reporting to law enforcement in connection with the incident. Masters had reported his 1990 Cadillac Deville had been stolen July 3 while it was parked at a business on West Moulton Street. He identified the suspect as a black man with dreadlocks.
Masters then filed a police report of the theft.
Detectives investigated the incident then later identified Masters as having filed a false police report.
Masters turned himself in to Decatur Police and is being held on $500 bond.
