Rev. James Wallace ‘Hutch’ Hutcheson

Funeral for the Rev. James Wallace “Hutch” Hutcheson, 82, of Hartselle, was Saturday, August 22, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Phil Waldrep and James McCullar officiating.
Burial was Monday, August 24, at 1:15 p.m. at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
Rev. Hutcheson died Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at his residence. He was born October 17, 1926, in Phil Campbell to Thomas Jefferson “Jeff” Hutcheson and Minnie Mae Morrison Hutcheson. He was retired from Thompson Caterpillar Tractor where he received numerous training certifications including a Doctor of Motors. He was associate pastor of Stoney Acres Baptist Church in Decatur. He served in the U.S. Army and was a graduate of Howard College and Calhoun Community College with degrees in Christian service. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Lowell Hutcheson, Norman Hutcheson, Lou Ray Hutcheson and Owen Hutcheson; and a son-in-law, Roger L. James Sr.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Thelma Newell Hutcheson; two daughters, Sandra Hutcheson James of Decatur and Rita Hutcheson Cobbs and husband Dr. Jerry Cobbs of Hartselle; five grandchildren, Roger L. James Jr. of Decatur, Amanda James Argo and husband Jason of Somerville, Garrett Cobbs, Joel Cobbs and M. Ethan Cobbs, all of Hartselle; seven sisters, Gladys Hutcheson, Janice Holcomb, Julia Vinson, Marge Pounders and Voncile Davis, all of Phil Campbell, Audra Watson of Hobart, Ind. and Imagene Wood of Lake City, Fla.; a brother, Odis Hutcheson of Phil Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers for the funeral were Steve Estes, Bryan Schmid, Freddie Sapp, Howard Martin, Robert Newell and Hulon Garrison.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley in Decatur in appreciation of their staff and respite volunteer, Mrs. Carolyn Chenault.
