Funeral for Charles W. Burden Sr., 82, of Hartselle will be Thursday (today), September 3, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with the Rev. David Gamble and Dr. T. Reynolds Hall officiating.
Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery.
Mr. Burden died Saturday, August 29, 2009, at his residence. He was born August 24, 1927, in Lawrence County to Richard Austin Burden and Eleanor Arden Warrick Burden. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a Gideon and a graduate of Hazelwood High School Class of 1946. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Marvin Burden and Mitchell Burden; a grandson, T.J. Gelatt; and a son-in-law, Tim Gelatt.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Frances Burden of Hartselle; a son, Charles Burden Jr. and wife Karen of Missouri; three daughters, Anita Gelatt of Hartselle, Kathy Darby and husband Bill of Trinity and Rebecca Kirby and husband Jeff of Hartselle; eight grandchildren, Anna Burden, Zachary Burden, Ben Darby, Ashley Kirby and husband Shaenon, Kimberly Gibson and husband Jonathan, Katy Peters and husband Shawn, Beth Gelatt and Amy Gelatt; and five great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Burden, Bill Darby, Ben Darby, Jeff Kirby, Shannon Kirby, Jonathan Gibson, Shawn Peters and Bert Bunner
