Funeral for Lora Faulkner, 93, of Hartselle, was Monday, August 31, at 7 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Joe Holmes officiating.
A private family burial service was held at Hartselle Memory Gardens Cemetery.
Mrs. Faulkner died Sunday, August 30, 2009, at her residence. She was born February 22, 1916, to James Amos and Ida Elizabeth Gaines Thompson. She was a member of Vestavia Hills Baptist Church in Decatur. She was also a member of the Supreme Emblem Club and the Fraternal Order of Eagles-Ladies Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by 16 brothers and sisters and her husband, Herman Garfield Faulkner. She taught bridge in Decatur for 23 years and was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is survived by three daughters, Sue Bodley and husband Bill and Marcia Castleberry, all of Hartselle and Pam Duke and husband Larry of Decatur; two grandchildren, Debra Harvel and husband Buzzy and Greg Bodley and wife Cathy, all of Hartselle; four great-grandchildren, Brittany and Shelly Harvel and Zac and Catherine Bodley.
Mrs. Faulkner had many close friends and neighbors whom she loved. The family gives special thanks to Betty Miller and Faye Taylor. Special appreciation is extended to caregivers of AlaCare Hospice and Mattie Yoder.
