Phillips, Brooks exchange vows
Whitney Sorrell Phillips and Lloyd Michael Brooks II were united in marriage Sept. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Monte Sano State Park Lodge. Minister Brad Cox officiated. The wedding took place outdoors overlooking the mountains at sunset.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leahmon Edward Phillips Jr. and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Spiro and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leahmon Edwards Phillips Sr., all of Montgomery.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Michael Brooks of Somerville and the grandson of Marie Still Buist, the late Charles Arthur Buist Jr. of Huntsville and Jesse Carl Brooks and the late Mittie Huggins Brooks of Somerville.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white wedding gown with pink crystals on the bodice. The back was trimmed with pink chiffon at the waist and a lavish sweep train. The bride’s mother, Teri Phillips, was matron of honor. The groom’s father, Lloyd Brooks, served as best man.
Honorary bridesmaids were Bunny Brooks and Christina Pope, both of Huntsville. Honorary groomsmen were John Cooper of Huntsville, Robert Dudley of Lacey’s Spring, Richard George of Eva and Daniel Gullion and Dusty Gullion, both of Florette.
Music was presented by Preston Phillips, brother of the bride, Bunny Brooks, sister of the groom, and friends Dusty Gullion and John Cooper.
A reception followed at the lodge. The couple will reside in Owens Cross Roads after a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn.
