Daniel Lynn ‘Danny’ Thrasher

Funeral for Daniel Lynn “Danny” Thrasher, 59, of Decatur, was Saturday, Aug. 29, at 11 a.m. at Ridout’s Brown-Service Chapel with Gary Patton officiating.
Burial was in Forrest Chapel Cemetery near Hartselle.
Mr. Thrasher died Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2009, at UAB Hospital. He was born Dec. 4, 1949, in Hartselle, the second of four sons born to Newton Columbus and Betty Inez Collier Thrasher. He graduated from Morgan County High School (Hartselle High), then moved to Decatur, where he attended Calhoun Community College, completing certification as an electrician. He worked for Collier Electric in Florida, Falls Plumbing in Tuscaloosa, Graybar in Huntsville and Copeland Industries in Hartselle. He retired from Copeland in 2007. Danny demonstrated his faith and his love for the Lord by steadfast obedience to the commands of God as revealed in the Bible. In earlier years, Danny preached the gospel part-time for several congregations in North Alabama. He was a faithful member of the Somerville Road Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Bill.
He is survived by his wife, Pam White Thrasher of Decatur; two sons, Daniel Thrasher and wife Christina and Ben Thrasher and fiancee Staci Greer, all of Decatur; a daughter, Leah Collier and husband Nick of Decatur; two brothers, Thomas N. Thrasher and wife Jerretta of Decatur and David L. Thrasher and wife Theresa of Hartselle; and three grandchildren, Cameron and Gabrielle Thrasher and Colton Collier.
Pallbearers were Kevin Corum, Reggie Corum, Royce Moore, Jeff Roberts, Tim Taylor and Max Wright.
Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren.
