Funeral for Richard Weldon Wiley, 63, of Danville, was Wednesday, September 16, at 3 p.m. at Parkway Funeral Home with Dr. Todd Evans officiating and Michael “Butch” Wiley speaking.
Burial was in Moulton Memory Gardens.
Mr. Wiley died, Monday, September 14, 2009, at his residence. He was born August 13, 1946, in Speake to William Ottis and Vera Jacobs Wiley. He was retired from Solutia, formerly Monsanto, and the U.S. Army. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church in Decatur, a lifetime member of Jaycees and the International Jaycees and a member of the United Way of Decatur. He was coordinator, lifetime member of Tennessee Valley Exposition, president of Austin High School Athletic Booster Club from 1991 to 1993 and a member of Speake High School 4-H and F.F.A. He was an Alabama State board of Agriculture fair judge, member of Moulton Lion’s Club and a member of Morgan County Sheriff’s with Sheriff John McBride. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth Wiley and Jack Wiley.
He is survived by his wife, Carol Brown Wiley of Danville; two sons, Richard J. Wiley of Smyrna, Tenn. and Jon Wiley of Decatur; a daughter, Wendy Hale of Hartselle; two brothers, Bennett Wiley and Tom Wiley, both of Speake; and five grandchildren, Jackson, Sara, Andrew, Caroline and Garrett Hale.
Pallbearers were Steve Wiley, Don Smith, Mark Hodges, Darrell Black, Ethan Wiley, David Thorne and Larry Hargett.
Honorary pallbearers were Parkview Baptist Men’s Sunday School Class 1B.
