Funeral for Eunice H. Ebert-Stallworth, 50, of Lawrence, Kan., formerly of Hartselle, will be Friday, September 25, at 3 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Ms. Ebert-Stallworth died Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2009, at her residence. She was born Jan. 24, 1959, in Hartselle to Isaac F. Sr. and Eva Lee Henderson Stallworth. She was a graduate of Morgan County High School and moved to Lawrence in 1977. She was very active in the arts and Hartselle Little Theatre.
She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Kansas University. She also studied in Greece and Cambridge, England. She was currently working on her doctorate dissertation. She also performed around the world as a theatrical performer. She performed at the World’s Fair.
Ms. Ebert-Stallworth was a freelance artist and performer for many years. She worked as an administrative assistant at KU Alumni Association, where she also advised the chancellor on the status and coordinated visits with Haskell Indian Nations University. She was a storyteller at Lawrence Public Library. Previously she produced and hosted a live call-in arts program at Sunflower Cablevision.
In the early 1980s, she was archery supervisor at Robinson Gymnasium, where she taught beginning- and intermediate-level archery skills and techniques.
She was a member of many organizations, including American Association of University Women, Zeta Phi Beta social sorority at KU, Kabuki Theater Touring Company through the KU International Studies Department, the Jaycees and had been a member of the National Honor Society.
She also volunteered for many organizations including the Girl Scouts as a leader, Concerts in the Park, Headstart Community Children’s Center and Lawrence Arts Center.
In 1998, she was chairwoman of entertainment and promotions for Ethnic Festival, and from 1979 until 1981 she was co-chair, president and director of KU’s Chapter for National Collegiate Athletic Association Volunteers for Youth programs. She was a finalist in the Miss Alabama Universe 1977 World’s Ideal Miss Congeniality, Baton Rouge, La. She attended Mustard Seed Church.
Survivors include her mother, Eva Stallworth of Hartselle; two daughters, Lee-Anna Ebert-Stallworth and Angelika Ebert-Stallworth, both of Vallejo, Calif.; a son, Christoph of Lawrence; two brothers, Isaac F. “Bud” Stallworth of Lawrence, and Lavoisier J. “Jerry” Stallworth of Oakland, Calif.; and a sister, Harriette Stallworth-Stevens of San Francisco, Calif.
The family suggests memorials to the Ballard Center or Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence, sent in care of the mortuary.
