Shipley, Mead exchange vows in beach ceremony
Emily Elizabeth Shipley of Hartselle and Shawn Robert Mead of Miami, Fla. were wed July 18, 2009, at 6 p.m. on the beach in Gulf Shores.
The bride is the daughter of Ronnie and Vickie Shipley of Hartselle. The groom is the son of Bill and Pat Mead.
Rev. Greg Alred officiated the ceremony. The bride was given in marriage by her father. The couple was married under an arch decorated with asparagus fern and hydrangea.
The bride chose a formal designer gown of white chiffon fashioned with a moulded bodice and embellished with silver accents. Her fingertip veil was edged in silver beading.
Serving as matron of honor was Mallory Alberti of Decatur. Maid of honor was Jessica Hazel of Hartselle. Bridesmaids were Paige Burch of Hartselle, Andrea Kruszka of Nappierville, Ill., Jenny Garrison and Stephanie Horne, both of Madison. Junior bridesmaid was Scarlett Shipley of Danville. The bride’s attendants wore navy blue chiffon knee-length dresses accented with beading.
The flower girl was Adily Alberti of Decatur and Parker Springstead of Orlando, Fla. was the ring bearer.
Best man was Jordan Mead, brother of the groom, of Orlando, Fla. Groomsmen were Zac Brown, Jason Hendrix, Will Riley and Jessie Ewing, all of Madison and Tim Nystrom of San Francisco, Calif.
Music was provided by Pensacola Steel, a steel drum band.
The reception was held at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club. The bride’s cake was a square three-tier white cake with chocolate and peanut butter layers accented with iridescent polka dots. The groom’s ice cream cake consisted of chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream decorated with bride and groom starfish.
Denice Marco, Cindy Revera and Penny Hazel served as wedding directors.
After a honeymoon trip to Key West, Fla. the couple will reside in Madison.
