Funeral for Ida Lou Weatherford Johnson, 83, of Hartselle, will be Fri., Oct. 2, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. David Gamble and Wesley Waddle officiating.
Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson died Mon., Sept. 28, 2009, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born Nov. 17, 1925, in Arkansas to John Burly Weatherford and Mayme Hibbard Weatherford. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and a longtime resident of Wood River, Ill. She was married to John R. Johnson on June 14, 1944, and moved to Hartselle in 1989. Mr. Johnson died in 1993. She worked in the lunchroom at Bethel Baptist School for 14 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Redonda Homesley and husband Dennis of Hartselle; two brothers, John Weatherford of Lake Isabella, Calif. and Don Weatherford of Pocahontas, Ark.; a sister, Reva Brady of Cartersville, Ga.; three grandchildren, Jonathan Homesley, Nathan Homesley and Rachael Waddle; and five great-grandchildren, Caleb, Emily, Timothy, Anna Grace and Luke.
Pallbearers will be Frank Waddle, Harold Dunaway, Bud Lucas, Ernest Austin, Jerry Lett and Ed Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
