MCHS program a big success
Editor:
On behalf of the Hartselle Historical Society, I want to express gratitude to all who contributed items displayed for Down Memory Lane’s celebration of MCHS/HHS’s 100th year. The displays by decades from 1909 – 1989 were outstanding. The band and sports displays were far beyond expectation. So many memories were rekindled as all displays were observed. The joy of the occasion was seeing friendships renewed and the expressions of love not only for each other but for their Alma Mater.
Former students and citizens of Hartselle supported the event along with many from out-of-town. Several traveled many miles to express their love for and remember their wonderful years spent at MCHS/HHS.
Former students and guests furnished music prior to the event. The Historical Society appreciates their contribution to the evening’s program. A very informative and interesting program reminded us of the school’s early history, how it was in the 1970s and how our high school has done and is doing academic wise.
Another highlight of the event was seeing pictures various individuals had collected and hearing or reading stories that made our history even more interesting. The first yearbook of the MCHS was on display. It was put together by the class of 1916. A dress worn in the first graduation class of 1911 was seen. If you have pictures, yearbooks, and stories you would share, the Historical Society would be interested in making copies of them or would accept them for our archives.
We want to express our appreciation to the Hartselle Enquirer for putting together a tabloid on the past, present and future of the Hartselle High School. The Decatur Daily published an excellent report on the evening’s activities. If you missed receiving a tabloid, contact the Hartselle Enquirer for a copy.
Thank you…citizens of Hartselle, out-of-town students and many guests…for making this evening and Saturday morning so enjoyable and memorable. We have a wonderful town and school system. Dr. Jeff Hyche plans to make the school system even better. Let’s support him!!
