Funeral for Vaughn Blevins, 76, former resident of Eva, was Sun., Sept. 27, at 1:30 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel in Hartselle.
Burial was in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Mr. Blevins died Tues., Sept. 22, 2009, at Emory Eastside Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga., following surgery. He was born April 27, 1933, in Somerville to Houston and Katie Knighton Blevins. He was raised at Oden Ridge and moved to Ohio in the 50’s. On June 8, 1957, he married Nancy Graves and they had four children. In 1966 he and his family returned to Eva and he worked for Thiokol Missile and Rocket Engineers. They remained in Eva until 2006 when they moved to Loganville, Ga.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Nancy; two sons, Benjamin Blevins and wife Libby of Albertville and their children Laurel and Aaron and Dwight Blevins and wife Helen of Crestview, Fla., and their children Robin, Stephanie, Cassie and Katie; two daughters, Connie Sindorf and husband Rick of Oklahoma City, Okla. and Becky Metcalfe and husband Doug of Loganville, Ga., and their children Kristopher and Zachary; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
