Funeral for Donald Lamar Brown, 62, of Danville was Tuesday, October 6, at 11 a.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Dewitt Crowe, Curtis Stanford and Chuck Oden officiating. Music was provided by Ray Henson. Honorary singers were Penny Schrimsher, JoAnn Linderman and Wanda Archer.
Burial was in Uptons Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Brown died Saturday, October 3, 2009, at Decatur General Hospital. He was born May 5, 1947, in Morgan County to William Marvin Brown and Mary Alice Johnson Brown. He was retired from Amoco/BP Chemical Company and was a member of Uptons Chapel Methodist Church. He was also a member of Danville Masonic Lodge and Punkin Center Volunteer Fire Department. He loved gardening, helping people and truck driving. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Cavan Stanford; two brothers, Ray Brown and Fermon Brown; a sister-in-law, Berta Brown; and a brother-in-law, Claude McDowell.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Childers Brown of Danville; four daughters, Kimberly Brown Stanford and husband Curtis of Tennessee, Kelly Brown Johnson and husband Rodney and Misty Brown South and husband Shannon, all of Danville and Melody Brown Oden and husband Chuck of Somerville; seven grandchildren, Caleb Stanford, Cole, Lane and Clay Johnson, Treyce and Cason Oden and Skylar South; a brother, Wayne Brown and wife Reba of Duncan, S.C.; a sister, Mauvalene Brown McDowell of Gaffney, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Childers Dobbs and husband Frank of Moulton; and three brothers-in-law, Danny Childers and Brad Childers and wife Christie, all of Danville and Frank Childers of Decatur.
Pallbearers were Curtis Stanford, Rodney Johnson, Chuck Oden, Shannon South, Wayne Brown, Medford Long, Cole Johnson, Lane Johnson, Hal Dean Eddy, Travis Archer and Dale Boyd.
Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Smith, Frank Dobbs, Clay Johnson, Brad Childers, Danny Childers, Frank Childers, Mark McDowell, Randy McDowell, Mike Brown, Jeff Brown, Ronnie Brown, Jim Brown, Gary Brown, Stanley Lind-erman, Sam Kitchens, Bobby McCaghren, Jack Oliver, Delmar Hensley and Rassie Wallace.
