Funeral for Dorothy Ann Stevens, 79, of Somerville was Monday, October 5, at 2 p.m. at Somerville Church of God with Bro. Mike Gunter officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Somerville Church of God Cemetery.
Mrs. Stevens died Saturday, October 3, 2009, at her residence. She was born December 20, 1929, in Morgan County to A.D. and Ida Mayfield Billings Williams. She was the owner of Somerville Beauty Shop for 48 years. Affectionately referred to as Ganganny or Nana, she always put everyone before herself and loved her family and friends and her church family very much. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Franklin Williams and Richard Harold “Buddy” Williams; and a great-granddaughter, Makyna Grace Stevens.
She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Dewey Wayne Stevens; three sons, Douglas Ray Stevens of Corpus Christi, Tex., Roger Dale Stevens and his wife, Kay of Decatur and Darrell Wayne Stevens and wife Jean of Somerville; two daughters, Beverly Ann Stevens White and husband Jerry and Kathy Renee Stevens Screws and husband Leland, all of Decatur; three brothers, J.D. Williams, Marshall Williams and Harvey Williams; a sister, Doris Lazelle Williams Dye; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Douglas Stevens, Roger Stevens, Darrell Stevens, Robin Stevens, Jeremy White, Kevin Stevens and Will Stevens.
The family would like to express sincere appreciation to the Huntsville Hospital Cardiovascular ICU staff and Hospice of North Alabama.
