HHS sets homecoming plans

A King Contest, Powder Puff football game and community-wide pep rally are among scheduled events that will highlight the celebration of Homecoming 2009 at Hartselle High School. These activities are open to the general public.
The annual celebration will begin with a Homecoming King Contest, Oct. 6-15, and conclude with the Hartselle Tigers entertaining the Lee High School Generals in a Class 5A, Region 8 football game at J.P. Cain Stadium Oct. 16.
Senior boys will compete for the Homecoming King title by collecting donations for the school’s PTSO, Oct. 6-15.
Each class will pool its talents and resources to build lawn decorations at off-campus sites Oct. 12-14.
A Battle of the Classes will be staged at 9:30 a.m. on Oct. 15 at J.P. Cain Stadium with teams of students and faculty members competing in silly races for prizes. A $3 admission will benefit the PTSO.
A community-wide pep rally will be conducted at The Depot (downtown) Oct. 15 at 5:30 p.m. The band, cheerleaders and football players and coaches will participate.
A girl’s Powder Puff football game, with teams representing each class, will be played at J.P. Cain Stadium at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 15. Admission is $2 for students and $3 for adults. Proceeds will benefit SGA and PTSO. The winner of the Homecoming King Contest will be announced at halftime.
Lawn decorations will be displayed and judged at J.P. Cain Stadium at 8 a.m. on Oct. 16.
The Homecoming Queen will be announced and crowned at halftime of the Hartselle vs., Lee football game. Oct. 16. The overall Spirit of Homecoming class will also be announced.
The 2009 homecoming court consists of the following: Jami Dean, Ali Lemmond and Katie Young, seniors; Whitney Byford and Tiffany Johnson, juniors; Sloan Godsey and Savanne Howard, sophomores; and Haley Patterson and Haley Stiles, freshmen.
