Father and son face theft charges

A father and son from Lacey’s Spring were charged last week in connection with a string of stolen vehicles.
Lane Martin Culver, 35, and his father, Lumis Martin Culver, 70, face felony charges of receiving stolen property and obscuring the identity of a vehicle.
According to the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, several vehicles had been recovered from their property on McCuthcheon Loop Road. More than $100,000 in vehicles were recovered based on the tip from another law enforcement agency. Some of the cars had been dismantled and others had identification numbers removed.
Deputies said the suspects failed to provide proof of ownership for the vehicles. Most of the property was returned to its owners in Tallapoosa, Lee, and Elmore counties.
