The discovery of five “shake and bake” methamphetamine labs led to the arrest of four people, including one from Hartselle, last week.
The discovery was made Oct. 15 when the Morgan County Sheriff’s Narcotic and Violence Crimes Task Force served a felony arrest warrant at 2918 Deere Road in Priceville.
Agents at the scene said there were strong odors emanating from five buildings throughout the property. A search led to the discovery of the labs, chemicals used to make methamphetamine and the drug itself. Two shotguns were also confiscated.
Arrested were Steven Edward Staggs, 37, of 2918 Deer Road in Priceville;
Frankie Edward Bannister, 22, of 1610 Woodmont Street SW in Hartselle; James Steven Wilson, 31, of 406 East Pike Road in Falkville; and Melynn Burgess Smith, 41, of 2918 Deer Road in Priceville.
All were charged with unlawful manufacture of a controlled substance in the first degree and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. Staggs’ and Bannister’s bonds were set at $150,300. Wilson and Smith’s bonds were set at $100,300.
