Funeral for George Carrol Standridge, 88, of Kingston, Tenn. was Tuesday, October 27, at 7 p.m. at Kyker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Moore officiating.
Burial was Wednesday, October 28, at 11 a.m. at Kingston Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Standridge died Sunday, October 25, 2009, at his residence. He was a member of Luminary United Methodist Church and a longtime member of Shiloh Baptist Church. He led many missionary trips and helped build churches from South Dakota to Brazil. He was a member of Gideons International for 40 years and a well known builder in the Roane County area. He was an Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Brown Standridge.
He is survived by two daughters, Kathy Francis and husband Dartis of Kingston and Barbara Standridge of Knoxville, Tenn.; a son, David Standridge and wife Debbie of Kingston; two grandchildren, Gina Fink and husband Michael of Kingston and Danny Francis of Kingston; two great-grandchildren, Anna and Aaron Fink; a brother, Lee Standridge of Decatur; two sisters, Mildred Keenum of Danville and Nancy Horan of Colum-bus, Ga.; a nephew, Gene Standridge of Kingston; and two sisters-in-law, Adell Terrell and Grace Jones, both of Danville.
