A neighbor’s call to a property owner resulted in the arrest of two people for second degree theft this week.
Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputies received a call from Garland Sheppard Oct. 20 reporting a neighbor had called to tell him two people were stealing items from his property in Morgan City.
Sheppard went to his property at 3766 Highway 231 where he found a man and woman loading property belonging to him in the back of a small pickup truck. Deputies were called and responded to the scene.
Deputies found two suspects, Raymond Eugene Bly, 43, of Densmore Road in Morgan County, and Michelle Tallent Fitts, 45, who listed her address as homeless.
More than $500 worth of metal objects were located in the truck, including a pallet jack, drive shafts and axles.
Bly and Fitts were later charged with theft in the second degree. They are being held on $2,500 bond.
