Photographer claims he captured images of Cry Baby Hollow ghosts

On a cold, moonlit night nearly five years ago, a machinist turned photographer captured on film the eerie shapes of ghosts that have haunted Cry Baby Hollow for generations but never seen by the human eye.
The discovery was made by Larry Sherrod of Decatur and documented in his new e-book entitled “The Ghost of Cry Baby Hollow,” which was released on his website, www.biga.crybabyghost.com, Oct. 17. The price of the book is $14.95.
Sherrod snapped the photos for his e-book at 5:21 p.m. on Dec. 26, 2004. He stood on rights-of-way of Kayo Road and shot over a creek bridge located on the eastern side of Cry Baby Hollow. He used a Kodak DX 4330 digital camera and activated the shutter at a rate of six to 10 frames a second.
The book’s introduction reviews four of the stories behind the legend of Cry Baby Hollow and explains why and how he got involved in hunting the ghosts that live there. Following are 56 pages of photographs that reveal the presence of orbs, vortexes, ectoplasms and ghosts. One of the photos reveals three ghost images in a large mass of ectoplasm. One has a face that looks like a bull, another that of a smaller animal such as a dog or cat and yet another like a human being.
Sherrod said he guarded the film like he would an expensive diamond ring until he figured out how he could market his images on the internet without fear of them being copied or reproduced without permission.
Sherrod is as a loss to explain how he was able to photograph images of ghosts in Cry Baby Hollow on that cold December day in 2004 and has not been able to do it again.
A machinist who works in Huntsville, Sherrod said he has pursued a hobby in photography a long time.
His interest in photographing ghosts was sparked by a ghost hunt he and his family took while visiting the Biltmore Mansion in Ashville, N.C.
Sherrod has an agreement with the Big “A” Convenience Store at the foot of Hartselle Mountain as a distributor of literature to help him promote his e-book.
