Two arrested on meth charges

A pit bull dog was shot and killed by Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputies last week during the arrest of two people last weekend.
Bobby William Whitaker Jr.., 33, of 123 SE Simmons Road in Lacey’s Spring and Shannon Delan Elledge, 34, of 5737 East Upper River Road in Somerville, were arrested at Whitaker’s house last week. Deputies were responding to complaints about methamphetamine production at the home when a pit bull allegedly attempted to bite a deputy. The dog was shot and killed.
Whitaker and Elledge were found in an outbuilding on the property. Whitaker attempted to flee and deputies tasered him and made the arrest. Agents found bags containing methamphetamine at the shed and additional meth in Elledge’s purse.
Both were later charged in connection with the arrests.
