Area woman dies in car accident

A two-vehicle accident early Friday night in Hartselle resulted in fatal injuries to the driver of one of the vehicles and serious injuries to the driver of the other vehicle.
Jackie L. Garner, 56, of Hartselle was rushed to Decatur General Hospital where she later died from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of the other vehicle, Evelyn Anders, 58, also of Hartselle was airlifted by helicopter to Huntsville Hospital where she was listed in critical condition in the surgical intensive care unit the following day.
Hartselle police investigator Lt. Justin Barley said the accident involved only the two drivers and occurred at approximately 5:36 p.m. on Nanceford Road near the Higdon Road intersection. Investigation of the accident is continuing.
Funeral for Garner was Monday, Nov. 16, at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home with burial following in Herring Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Garner, and is survived by three sons and two grandchildren.
