Morgan County’s employees will have a little extra cash to jingle in their pockets this Christmas thanks to the generosity of the county commission.
The commission voted unanimously at its Nov. 9 meeting to give each full-time employee a one-time $300 Christmas bonus. Not included are employees who had not completed a six-month probation as of Nov. 10.
Chairman Glasscock said approximately 340 employees will be eligible for the bonus and the cost to the county will be about $200,000. He said the county had a budget excess of about $2 million as of Sept. 30.
County employees were not granted a cost of living adjustment in the 2009-2010 budget. They were in the prior year and each also received a Christmas bonus of $150.
The bonus checks will be distributed to employees in December.
