The Lady Bulldogs never trailed in their 78-36 win over the Lady Blue Devils. They were up 22-8 after the first period, 36-20 at halftime and 56-27 after three periods.
The win lifted the Lady Bulldogs to 3-2 on the season while the Lady Blue Devils dropped to 0-8.
Stephen Starkey led the Bulldogs in scoring with 15 points. Brentley Nelson followed with 14; Michael Varner had 11 points and 10 rebounds; Brock Boyd had eight points and six rebounds; and Tyler Croft had four steals.
Seth Wiley paced the Blue Devils in scoring with 14 points. Tyler Anders had 10 points and Jeremy McNatt and Chad Kirkpatrick followed with nine and eight points, respectively.
In commenting about the Lady Bulldogs’ performance, head coach Catrina Mason said: “I’m proud of the way they played tonight. They look ed a little sluggish in the first half. That may have been due to the fact they played a tough game against Lawrence County High School the night before. But they picked up the intensity in the second half. They also cut down on the turnovers and did a good job of rebounding. I think our team chemistry is improving.”
Melissa Johnson paced the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Presley Darling added 15 points; Molly Thompson had 12; and Syndney McClellan had 10. Darian Tucker grabbed 11 rebounds.
Hilary Eason paced the Lady Blue Devils in scoring with 16 points.
