Wreck claims life of popular Ryan teacher

A popular Ryan Junior High teacher and Enquirer columnist was killed in an auto accident last week.
A head-on collision involving a mini-van and a pickup truck claimed the life of Pamela Sieweke, 44, of Hartselle and injured a Vinemont man early last Thursday night.
Sieweke, was pronounced dead at the scene by Morgan County Coroner Russ Beard. Injured was Brett Harris, 40, of Vinemont. He was taken to Hartselle Medical Center where he was treated and released.
The wreck occurred at approximately 7:56 p.m. on Highway 36, about one-half mile west of the Highway 67 and 36 intersection in Somerville.
Only the drivers of the two vehicle were involved. Neither was wearing a seat belt, according to State Troopers.
The accident remains under investigation.
Sieweke was driving her mini van en route to her home in Hartselle from Ryan School where she taught language arts when she collided with Harris’ truck. She was also an English tutor, served as chairwoman of Ryan School’s building -based support teams and served on the Morgan County School System’s district accreditation committee.
She also wrote a weekly column on Ryan news for the Enquirer.
Counselors were made available to Ryan students this week to discuss the loss.
Funeral services for Sieweke were held Nov. 23 at Peck Funeral Home with burial following in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
