Funeral for Pearl Summerford, 93, of Hartselle was Wednesday, December 9, at 1:30 p.m. at McKendree United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Persons officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Herring Cemetery.
Mrs. Summerford died Sunday, December 6, 2009, at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born February 11, 1916, in Cherokee County to Luther Cromer and Ella Weaver Cromer. She was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church. She was a member of Eastern Star and a longtime Sunday school teacher at Cherokee Place Methodist in Charleston, S.C. before moving to Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley Summerford; her parents; and her youngest son, Jack C. Summerford.
She is survived by a son, Ted W. Summerford and wife Beth of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; three granddaughters, Lauren, Susan and Hollie; five great-grandchildren; and a niece, Sue Soules of Rome, Ga.
Pallbearers were James Sandlin, Charles Sandlin, Robert Sandlin, Wayne Gandy, Allen Gandy, Pat Smith and Sandy Fields.
