Brewer sweeps Priceville

PRICEVILLE - Brewer overcame a strong challenge by Priceville Friday night to claim its 11th win of the season.
The Lady Patriots, ranked No. 2 in Class 5A, trailed for most of the first half before finally pulling away for a 96-67 victory with a strong run in the second half.
Elizabeth Bromirski scored 20 points in the second half as the Lady Patriots powered past the Lady Bulldogs.
Bromirski scored a team-high 34 points after hitting nine of 10 free throws.
Chelsey Smith added 23 points, while Courtney Oldacre finished with 20 points.
Priceville’s Molly Thompson led the Lady Bulldogs with 12 points, while Melissa Johnson added 11 points. Presley Darling had eight points and rebounds.
Katelyn St. John and Amber Smith both added eight points for Priceville.
Priceville led for most of the first half until Smith hit a 3-pointer just before the end of the second quarter to give the Lady Patriots their first lead of the game at 40-38.
Brewer’s win was its fifth straight since suffering a four-point loss to Class 6A Decatur in the Lady Patriots’ Thanksgiving Tournament and helped add to the team’s dominance over their county rivals.
Brewer scored the first four points of the third quarter and added a 3-pointer by Oldacre to stretch the lead to nine points.
The Lady Patriots outscored Priceville 27-12 in the third quarter.
Boys’ game
Brewer 63, Priceville 53
Brewer outscored Priceville 9-1 in overtime Friday to claim a 63-53 victory in the boys’ varsity game at Priceville.
Brewer’s Jordan Bowling led all scorers with 28 points after hitting four 3-pointers in the win. He added 12 points at the free throw line.
Brandon Murray finished with 18 points for the Patriots.
Tyler Croft had 15 points to pace Priceville, while teammate Brock Boyd added 13.
Priceville led for much of the first half after jumping out to a 14-10 lead, but Brewer went in front in the third quarter with a strong run.
Bowling hit a 3-pointer with 3:14 remaining in regulation to give the Patriots a 50-49 lead.
But Priceville got free throws from Cole Sivley and Boyd to go back in front 52-49 with 42 seconds remaining.
Bowling nailed his fourth 3-pointer of the night just before the end of the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.
Bowling scored seven of Brewer’s 11 points in overtime, including a stretch of five straight free throws to help put the game out of reach.
Brewer was 11 of 12 from the free throw line in overtime and hit its final nine free throws to seal the win.
