Danville girls win seventh straight

DANVILLE - Danville got the easy 62-34 victory over Hamilton Monday night at home with a dominating first-half performance.
And Ashley Nance got the milestone.
Nance reached the 1,000-point mark for her career early in the second half when she hit a foul shot in the opening minute of the third quarter. She finished with 12 points in the game and has now scored 1,004 points at Danville.
Hannah McClung led all scorers with 15 points after hitting four 3-pointers in the win.
Kayloni Cross added eight points.
Danville took a 25-0 lead at the end of the first half and coasted to the victory. The Lady Hawks improved to 12-1 on the season.
Danville continues to reap the benefits of the team’s early success. The Lady Hawks are ranked third in Class 3A behind Madison Academy and Greene County.
Carrie Rye scored 15 points to lead Hamilton. Heather Danley added 10 points.
Hamilton played even with the Lady Hawks in the second half as Danville head coach Paul Wilson used every player on the team’s bench.
Danville had 10 players score in the game.
Hamilton 55, Danville 44
Hamilton overcame a five-point halftime deficit Monday to shock Danville 55-44.
The Aggies held Danville to just 13 points in the second half to pull away for the win.
Hamilton’s Steven Holloway led all scorers with 18 points, while Mitch Stults added 14 points.
Stults scored 11 of his 14 points in the second half, including eight in the third quarter when the Aggies outscored Danville 16-4.
Kevin Jacko led Danville with 16 points, while Dylan Woods added 14 points.
Jacko hit three 3-pointers late in the second quarter that helped the Hawks take a 28-23 lead at the half.
But Hamilton exploded for 16 points in the third quarter and 16 more in the fourth quarter.
