Funeral for Donald York, 81, of Atmore was Wednesday, Dec. 23, at 11 a.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Ted Phillips officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Mount Olive Cemetery.
Mr. York died Sunday, Dec. 20, 2009, at his residence. He was born May 13, 1928, in Georgia to William S. York and Eunice Miller York. He was a veteran of World War II and also served in the Korean War. He was in the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents; a stepson, Troy Mooneyham; and a stepdaughter, Bonita Varela.
His is survived by his wife, Ida Kate Tyler York of Atmore; a stepson, Eddie Mooneyham of Whitwell, Tenn.; two daughters, Donna Blaylock of Pace, Fla. and Denise Thorton of Milton, Fla.; a grandson, Chris Mooneyham; and two granddaughters, Candis Mooneyham and Mary Kate Blaylock.
Family and friends were pallbearers.
