Priceville, Hartselle split games

PRICEVILLE - With Katelyn St. John most likely sidelined for the season with a broken leg, Priceville turned to Molly Thompson for some offensive support Friday night in a 43-34 victory over Hartselle.
Thompson responded with a team-high 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Lady Bulldogs picked up their second straight win over a county rival.
Priceville picked up a win over Danville, the No. 3 ranked team in Class 3A, just three days earlier.
Priceville improved to 9-7 overall with the win over Hartselle. The two teams have split their two regular season matchups.
Thompson scored six points in the second quarter as Priceville overcame an early Hartselle run to take a 26-25 lead at the half.
Morgan Ponder added nine points, while Amber Smith finished with seven points.
Priceville struggled offensively and got just 28 points from its starters, but Thompson’s play helped send the Lady Bulldogs to the win.
Priceville held a commanding 36-21 advantage in rebounding.
Alex Holmes led Hartselle with 13 points, while Taylor White and Katie Young added nine and six points respectively.
Hartselle, playing without point guard Callie Miller, got just two points off the bench.
The Lady Tigers scored just nine points in the second half as Priceville turned a one-point halftime lead into a nine-point victory. In the second half, Hartselle made just two of 22 shots and finished at 22 percent from the floor.

Sam Fleischman scored 24 points as Hartselle pulled out a four-point victory over Priceville on the road Friday night.
Hartselle improved to 5-6 overall with the win.
Tres Austin added 11 points, while Terry Wiggins finished with 10 points after hitting a big 3-pointer in the fourth quarter to keep the Tigers in front.
Andrew Starkey led Priceville with 16 points, while Stephen Starkey contributed 10 points. The Bulldogs also got nine points from Brock Boyd.
Fleischman scored 13 points in the first half as the Tigers made 64 percent of their shots from the field on the way to a 27-25 advantage at the half.
Priceville scored just seven points in the third quarter.
Priceville dropped to 9-6 overall with the loss at home.
