A graveside service for Betty Smith, 79, of Hartselle was Sat., Dec. 26, at 2:30 p.m. at Burningtree Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Gordon Wilbanks officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Mrs. Smith died Wed., Dec. 23, 2009, at her residence. She was born Jan. 23, 1930, in Georgia to Valentine Lawrence House and Lurlene Haney House. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Smith, and two brothers, James House and Joe House.
She is survived by two daughters, Debbie Smith of Hartselle and Susan Stinson and husband Wade of Gainesville, Fla.; four brothers, Lawrence House of Texas, Ted House of Melrose, Fla. and Rink House and Rannie House, both of Buford, Ga.; two sisters, Sandra House Martin and Catherine House Sims, both of Georgia; four grandchildren, Andi Smith Pitman, Zach Smith, Jamie Stinson and Christopher Stinson; and three great-grandchildren, Ella Pitman, Morgan Pitman and Ben Pitman.
Pallbearers were Van Smith, Zach Smith, Wade Stinson, Jason Pitman and Chris Stinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Hospice of the Valley.
