Business owners: Pay for city licenses now or face penalties
By By Clif Knight, Hartselle Enquirer
Corporations, partnerships and individuals doing business in Hartselle have until Jan. 31, 2010, to renew their privilege licenses for another year without a penalty, according to Renee Shadden, Hartselle business license clerk.
Shadden said she mailed more than 3,000 license renewal notices on Dec. 21. No changes were made in the city’s license code in 2008-09; therefore, the formula used for figuring rates will remain unchanged.
Licenses may be renewed at City Hall between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, or they may be mailed and will be accepted without penalty if postmarked not later than Jan. 31.
The city received approximately $740,000 in privilege licenses revenues in fiscal 2008-09, a drop of about $26,000 from the prior fiscal year. Licenses are budgeted at $730,000 in FY 2009-10.
