Funeral for Wayne Humphrey, 84, of Hartselle was Tuesday, January 5, at 11 a.m. at Antioch United Methodist Church with the Revs. Kathryne Perkins and Vandon Windsor officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Antioch Cemetery.
Mr. Humphrey died Saturday, January 2, 2010, at his residence. He was born February 2, 1925, in Morgan County to Harrison Dewitt Humphrey and Mady May Morrow Humphrey. He was a farmer and dealer for Vermeer Hay Balers for more than 25 years. He served in the Army during World War II. He graduated from Alabama Polytechnic Institute (Auburn University) in 1950. He served on the Joe Wheeler Electric Co-op board of directors, Morgan County Farm Bureau and Morgan County Farmer’s Co-op. He was a charter member of the Brewer Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife, Sue Maddox Humphrey; three daughters, Mary Beth Humphrey of Arlington, Va., Frances Dalrymple of Huntsville and Ellen Kelly of Columbia, Tenn.; a sister, Edith Solomon of El Dorado, Ark.; and four grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Jackie Harris, Vaughn Moon, Edgar Dalrymple, Jonathan Glazier, Orville Bailey and Skeggs Gilchrist.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Valley.
