Funeral for Jesse C. “Jake” Walker, 93, of Hartselle was Friday, Jan. 8, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Earl Holt and Wayne Penn officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.
Mr. Walker died Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2010. He was born Jan. 27, 1916, in Lauderdale County to Walter H. and Clara Riethmaier Walker. He was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber in Decatur and was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Nell Thompson Walker; his parents; three brothers, McKinley “Dink” Walker, Leonard Walker and Griffin Walker; and two sisters, Irene Howell and Bessie Mickle.
He is survived by a son, Jimmie Walker and wife Sylvia of Falkville; a daughter, Marie Sivley and husband Jimmy of Hartselle; four grandchildren, Greg Sivley and wife Tara and Tim Sivley, all of Hartselle, Kay Walker Craven and husband Brack of Greenville, N.C. and Carol Walker Groce of Falkville; five great-grandchildren, Taylor, Trent and Tad Sivley of Hartselle, Kristin Arnett and husband Joshua of Huntsville and Benton Walker Craven of Greenville, N.C.; and a sister, Madeline Burns of Falkville.
