Funeral for Joan Jeffreys Mayer, 68, of Falkville was Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 2 p.m. at Fairview Church of God with the Revs. Milan Dekich and Melvin Brown officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Cook Cemetery.
Mrs. Mayer died Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010, at Decatur General Hospital. She was born Dec. 19, 1941, in Illinois to Ben Ralph Jeffreys and Thelma Vernetta Greenhaugh. She was a very good mother to her five children and a loving grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Montie Jeffreys.
She is survived by three sons, Harley Mayer Jr. and wife Karen of Lacey’s Spring, Terry Mayer and wife Tonya and James Mayer and wife Tammy, all of Falkville; two daughters, Kim Womack and husband Greg of Lawrence, Kan. and Kelly Martin and husband Chris of Danville; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Pallbearers were James Mayer, Brandon Goodner, Dustin Goodner, Chuck Brechtel, Danny Hogan, Lewis Brady, Trevor Mayer, Christopher Mayer and Robert Brechtel.
