Burial was in Etha Cemetery.
Mr. Widener died Monday, January 25, 2010, at his residence with his family at his side. He was born July 10, 1947, in Morgan County to Jessie ‘Jack’ Widener and Vivian Widener. He was loved by all and he loved his family and friends in return. He was a joy to be around, with his sense of humor and laughter and his gift of making everyone feel special. He loved Alabama football, Davey Allison and Nascar #28. He enjoyed shooting basketball and kicking his football. Even though in the last few years he was not able to do the things he normally did, he never complained. He will be missed but we will see him again as God’s word promises.
He was preceded in death by his father; his niece, Amanda Leigh Humphrey; and brother-in-law, Chuck Hanvey.
He is survived by his mother, Vivian Widener of Eva; three brothers, Jimmie Widener, Frankie Widener and Johnny Widener, all of Eva; four sisters, Peggie Humphrey and husband Morris of Fairview, Bettie Young and husband Rick and Sarah Hanvey, all of Eva and Polly Miller and husband Rickey of Baileyton; and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Pallbearers will be Randy Humphrey, Jason Hanvey, Jessie Hanvey, Matthew Widener, Jeremy Widener, Michael Moss, Braxton Murphree and Brian Wright.
