County unveils new website

An upgraded Morgan County website—www.co.morgan.al.us—went on line earlier this week after it was screened and approved by the Morgan County Commission.
The website was created by Sandra Adams of the Data Processing Department and was shown to commissioners following an adjourned meeting on Monday.
Adams explained space is provided for the posting of vital public information on a daily basis. Information found on it would include courthouse closings, bridge and road closings, time-sensitive meetings and other topics to help keep the public informed.
The website will also have front-page hot links to chambers of commerce in Decatur and Hartselle and the Decatur-Morgan County Convention and Visitors Bureau. It will also contain county maps, a courthouse directory and lots of full-color photos.

The commission also approved and confirmed the purchase by auction of 11.36 acres of land at Union Hill from the estate of Sherman L. Whisenant for $179,300, plus closing cost, in addition to a right-of-way totaling .27 acres.
The commission chairman was authorized to close the purchase subject to the review and approval of paperwork by the county attorney.
District 4 Commissioner Greg Abercrombie said part of the land would be used to reconfigure a four-way crossing at Union Hill School.
