Funeral for Venice Kathleen Horton Sharp, 84, of Somerville was Monday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. at Shiloh Baptist Church with the Revs. Vandon Windsor and Donnie McDonald and Dr. Charles Owens officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in Center Springs Cemetery.
Mrs. Sharp died Friday, Feb. 5, 2010. She was well-known throughout her community as a talented seamstress. She was employed by United Stage Equipment and later by Sallye Faulk Interiors before opening her own business, Kat’s Drapery Shop. At the age of 10 she gave her heart to Jesus. From that time forward she demonstrated her love for Christ by teaching her family the love of our Lord. She was faithful in service to the Women’s Ministries at Shiloh for many years and supported the program in many ways. She was preceded in death by her parents, Laura Black Horton and T.A. Horton; three brothers, Oval Hipp, J.T. Horton and G.W. Horton; and a sister, Laynoitte Hipp Oden.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tim Sharp; five daughters, Patsy Turner and husband Mark of Macon, Ga., Peggy Vaughn and husband Jim and Sheree Lane and husband Phil, all of Hartselle, Suzette Fussell and husband Dennis of Gardendale and Philda Starks of Somerville; a brother, Elwin Horton of Parrish, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Amy Toombs, Marty Randolph, Stanley Bibb, Ashley McDonald, Marcey Howell, Julie Sherman and Ian Starks; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Grandsons and great-grandsons were pallbearers.
