Let’s support soccer players
"When looking at the Hartselle High School website, I see announcements and congratulations frequently for baseball, football, basketball, and even tennis. The school needs to stand behind these girls and boys that work year-round to represent the school in soccer. A little encouragement would be nice. If anyone cares, they started their season yesterday against Chelsea. The JV won their game, and the girls are playing playing in a tournament out of town this weekend. Good luck girls!"
Sounding off on HJHS’ test scores
" This kind of ranking is the result of all students – in and out – great teachers and parental involvement. Congratulations HJHS and HCS for consistently excelling!"
"Dr. pouncey needs to point out what the school test score would have been if you left out the out-of-district students. If you out-of-district people want the best for your children, you should stay in your own district and make it better. What the out-of-district students has caused is Hartselle had to raise its sale tax and take money from its city general funds to fund the school system."
Sounding off on the new high school
Where is the money coming from to upgrade the high school that is here now? We are still planning to use it, right? What is the plan? We are always hearing one thing this year, but last year was something else. Can someone please let us know what is going to happen to this building? I am all for the new school."
"Hartselle needs to consider the dangers of locating the new high school on Bethel Road. There is already heavy traffic due to the elementary school and housing that has increased over the past 10 years. The on-going issue of Dead Mans Curve will be an added danger to the high school students driving to the school by way of Roan Road. The new high school would be better located at Sparkman Park. It is a central location, convenient to Tiger Stadium and much safer for the high school students with plenty of access. The baseball and soccer fields need to be relocated to the Bethel Road property, the soccer fields could be relocated to the property near I-65 if there is not enough room for both the baseball and soccer fields. The city owns these properties and should consider doing what is best for the safety of our citizens and that would be to not over crowd the east end of Hwy 36 any further."
