Man charged with laptop theft
By Staff
An alleged scheme to trade in an old laptop for a refund has landed a Madison man in jail.
Inv. Alan McDearmond arrested Rafael Daniel Feb. 9 on charges of theft of property in the second degree. The arrest came on the heels of an on-going investigation of a Feb. 3 incident at the Hartselle Wal-Mart. Daniel allegedly purchased a laptop computer from the Wal-Mart in Madison and returned it to the Hartselle Wal-Mart for a cash refund. During the trip, officers said, he swapped out the new computer for an old one and returned the box with the older non-working computer. The old computer was found after Daniel had left the store.
Daniel was taken to the Morgan County Jail on $2,500 bond.
