Funeral for Mattie Odel Goodwin, 85, of Joppa was Tuesday, February 23, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Morgan officiating.
Burial was in New Salem Cemetery.
Mrs. Goodwin died Saturday, February 20, 2010, at Marshall Medical Center North. She was born January 29, 1925, in Tennessee to Olen Wriston Fite and Pearl Miller Fite. She was a member of Ruth Baptist Church. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and a sister and a friend to all who knew her. She loved everybody. She was preceded in death by a son, William P. Goodwin; four brothers; and a sister.
She is survived by her husband, W.P. Goodwin; three daughters, Nancy A. Payne, Peggy L. Segars of Joppa, Debbie Nelson-Hyatt of Somerville; three sisters, Wilma Fite and Mary Fite, both of Hulaco and Annie Lee Fite of Huntsville; two grandchildren, Adam and Jeremy Nelson; four great-grandchildren, Ashley, Alivia, Marcus and Hunter Nelson.
Pallbearers were Wilford Hyatt, Darryl Segars, Jeremy Nelson, Dewayne Morris, Clayton Clemons and Paul Hyatt.
