Funeral for Pruitt Felton Miller, 77, of Somerville was Sun., Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. at New Canaan Baptist Church with the Revs. Shane Wheeler and Eldridge Criscoe officiating and Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home directing.
Burial was in New Canaan Cemetery.
Mr. Miller died Fri., Feb. 19, 2010, at Huntsville Hospital. He was a member of New Canaan Baptist Church. He retired from Vulcan Materials after 28 years where he worked as a diesel mechanic. After retirement he farmed and worked on cars as a shade tree mechanic. His love was to rebuild old cars and race them. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Gary Miller.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice Atchley Miller of Somerville; two sons, Ricky Miller and wife Deleane of Soddy Daisy, Tenn. and Randy Miller and wife Kristie of Ryan; five daughters, Carol Taylor and husband Mark of Rockford, Ill., Sharon Knighten and husband Rockie and Jan Daugette and husband Bobby, all of Somerville, Cynthia Hawkins and husband Rodney of Holly Pond and JoAnne Woodall and husband Leslie of Eva; two sisters, Elaine Cobble and husband Jim of Millington, Tenn. and Helen Higdon of Decatur; 15 grandchildren, Brian Miller and wife Angie, Kim Tweed, Lindsey Miller, Lee Gibson and wife Summer, Julie Raper and husband Shane, Casey Gibson and wife Amanda, Justin Taylor, Stephanie Hallmark and husband Allen, Jeremy and Matthew Knighten, Clift Daugette, Ashley Clemons and husband Anthony, Jessica Miller, Bailey and Macy Wilson, Joey and Kelsey Hawkins, Steton and Bailee Woodall; 17 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Leah, Abby and Ethan Miller, Caleb and Sadie Tweed, Lana Gibson, Christopher Raper, Nicole and Alissa Gibson, Alexis Hallmark, Jacob, Mackenzie and Conner and Jackson Knighten.
Pallbearers were Brian Miller, Lee Gibson, Casey Gibson, Matthew Knighten, Clift Daugette and Joey Hawkins.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeremy Knighten, Wayne Higdon, Michael Higdon, Jeff Cobble and Greg Cobble.
